Gdansk University of Technology uses RTLS

Tuesday, 6 May 2014

Recently we have welcomed in our company postgraduate students from the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering – at Gdansk University of Technology – one of the leading academies in Poland. The goal of this visit was to conduct scientific researches using a Real Time Location System available in our conference center.

Taking advantage of the ease of use typical for RTLS platform, already after a brief introduction, the University’s researchers were able to prepare and perform the tests independently. They have also gathered the necessary data in order to verify research assumptions and improve an innovative algorithm they are working on in order to enhance the precision of location systems.

Working with Ubisense’s RTLS gave our guests an opportunity to test their algorithm with highly accurate RTLS system based on AoA (Angle of Arrival) and TDoA (Time Difference of Arrival). Till now the algorithm was tested only with location systems based on received signal strength (RSSI). These diametrically opposed operating principles of both location systems made a great challenge for the analyzed algorithm. We look forward to a summary of this research.

ASTEC on GE's Americas Software Summit 2014

Wednesday, 26 February 2014

One more time we had the pleasure of attending the American conference dedicated to Smallworld's GIS integrators and end-users. This year's conference brought many new contacts and abounded in interesting and lively discussions. Very big dose of interest was shown towards our mobile GIS client – Gislet. Same goes for MDT, which was honored with a presentation slot, what afterwards met with a very positive feedback.

We would like to thank all of the visitors. Now we will be enthusiastically preparing for the European equivalent to be held in May, in Rotterdam.

GE's Americas Software Summit 2014

Tuesday, 14 January 2014

ASTEC will be visiting this year's Americas Software Summit organized by GE Digital Energy. The event will take place in Orlando, Florida between 10-14 February and will be devoted to software solutions for the electric, gas and telecom industries. As a one of conference exhibitors ASTEC will present services based on the Smallworld™ technology and the newest MDT version.

We will also conduct a myth-busting presentation "We would switch from Emacs but MDT cannot...", where we want to discuss myths surrounding MDT over the years. The presentation will be held on the second day of the conference: Tuesday, from 2:00 to 2:45 P.M.
