Gdansk University of Technology uses RTLS

Tuesday, 6 May 2014

Recently we have welcomed in our company postgraduate students from the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering – at Gdansk University of Technology – one of the leading academies in Poland. The goal of this visit was to conduct scientific researches using a Real Time Location System available in our conference center.

Taking advantage of the ease of use typical for RTLS platform, already after a brief introduction, the University’s researchers were able to prepare and perform the tests independently. They have also gathered the necessary data in order to verify research assumptions and improve an innovative algorithm they are working on in order to enhance the precision of location systems.

Working with Ubisense’s RTLS gave our guests an opportunity to test their algorithm with highly accurate RTLS system based on AoA (Angle of Arrival) and TDoA (Time Difference of Arrival). Till now the algorithm was tested only with location systems based on received signal strength (RSSI). These diametrically opposed operating principles of both location systems made a great challenge for the analyzed algorithm. We look forward to a summary of this research.
