ASTEC is one of the most innovative companies in Poland

500 most innovative Polish companiesASTEC once again is in the lead of the most innovative Polish companies. In the second edition of ranking performed by BRE Bank, Gazeta Prawna and the Institute of Economic Sciences ASTEC has been classified in the 49th position, among 500 most innovative companies in Poland. The companies were ranked mainly by engagement in development and implementation of innovative technologies as well as building a new level of communication with clients and partners.

ASTEC participation in the UE research projects and development of innovative products using its own expenses have been valued. One of the company's greatest achievements in 2006 was the creation and implementation of MDT (www.mdt-project.net). MDT is the state of the art, integrated, Eclipse platform based environment for GE Smallworld™ GIS developers. It has received the Innovation Certificate awarded by theWroclaw Centre for Technology Transfer.

ASTEC at the Inauguration of the 7th Framework Programme in Poland

On 16-17th November 2006 ASTEC took part in the conference "Inauguration of the 7th Framework Programme (2007-2013) in Poland" organized by the National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the European Union. Since many years ASTEC has been carrying out the research projects with the participation of international consortia and individual scientific units.

The 7th Framework Programme is a EU financing instrument for research activities in Europe. The main objectives concerning launching of the FP7 and its detailed programmes have been discussed with participants. The four basic pillars of the FP7 are: cooperation, ideas, people and capacities. These programmes have been established for the Joint Research Centres (JRC) as well.

During the conference an exhibition of posters was held presenting the most successful companies and research institutes in previous EU framework programmes. ASTEC representatives participated in the conference plenary sessions and meetings dedicated to research activities in the field of ICT.

e-Challenges: Networking event, Barcelona 2006

ASTEC took part in the "Networking event on FP7-IST" organized during the international conference e-Challenges 2006 held in Barcelona. e-Challenges attracts delegates from leading commercial and research organizations around the world where they can share their knowledge, experience and good practice in the field of ICT. The objective of our participation in the meeting was to find new partners interested in fulfillment of research projects within the 7th EU Framework Programme.

SMALLWORLD User Group (SWUG) 2006

From May 30th to June 1st 2006 ASTEC took part in the SWUG conference in Dresden. We presented our Smallworld™-based services. During the conference we announced our latest product: Magik Development Tools for Smallworld™ GIS programmers. ASTEC Managing Director Janusz Michalewicz hold the lecture about ASTEC Magic Development Tools, which met great interest.

MDT — Magik Development Tools

ASTEC has published the official version of MDT. MDT is the first integrated development environment for Magik programmers. It was created basing on the Eclipse platform and has the features of modern IDEs such as: team work, repository management, context hints, syntax highlighting and many more. The execution of Smallworld™ environment images is also possible.
